Getting Started

What To Expect:

  • Meet with the Health Coach to conduct a comprehensive assessment.
  • Review of the current concerns (via Intake Form)
  • Set goals and objectives.
  • Create your individualized wellness plan focusing on achieving realistic healthy routines designed by you and the health coach.  
  • Referrals or assist current care facility, if necessary, to achieve the maximum benefit of the designed program.  

Specialties:

  • Behavioral Modification:  Partnering with a Health Coach to develop strategies and communication techniques that help you to set goals, plan for challenges, and establish a positive mindset. You’ll learn about identifying your strengths and barriers, to successfully obtain those goals.   By identifying positive things in your life, how to increase and facilitate a positive attitude, all of which fosters hope. Hope and a positive attitude are related, and research shows the effect of positive attitudes and its results on one’s whole health and resiliency.
  • Healthy Eating:  “Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine Be Thy Food” – Hippocrates – these words spoken way back in 5th century BC, Hippocrates the father of western medicine recognized the value of eating well and the potential of certain foods for good health.   In the journey of designing a healthy eating behavior, label reading will be explored, discovery of the benefits of healthy eating, and the implementation of ‘your’ plan, and future maintenance recommendations to keep in the mode of success.
  • Physical Activity: after assessment, recommendations will be discussed as to the best ‘program’ to meet your particular needs and interests including, but not limited to, BioMechanics®, FallProof®, Senior Fitness, personal training advice, Therapeutic exercise, or other appropriate physical activity to incorporate into your life.
  • Lights Out: Session on the importance of sleep and its role in good, overall health, with a plan to fit into your lifestyle.
  • Holistic Health Coaching: Balanced Lifestyles health coaching encompasses the whole-body, or holistic, approach to wellness. Balanced Lifestyles goes beyond food and diet to explore the many ways that you can improve your quality of life and find lasting health and happiness.  The Holistic Health Coach approach develops a positive relationship with you in assisting you through the process of actively working towards better health by providing support, mentorship, and encouragement, through education to cultivate positive health choices. This occurs through supporting you to achieve your health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments.
  • Health Partnering: Balanced Lifestyles will be happy to partner with your personal health care provider, and combining their assessments with the developed health plan will assist in the identification of the best overall program for you.

Keys to Success

  • Personal Log: Balanced Lifestyles will help to ensure success through the creation of a weekly action plan that requires the actions to be healthy and ones that can be engaged in multiple times/week, as well as a daily/weekly personal log. The personal log allows the member to track weekly actions in relation to the weekly action plan itself.
  • Support: You will receive personalized attention throughout the process.   To help ensure that you are engaged in the process, the Health Coach may connect with you between meeting dates, if necessary, to insure a positive outcome.
  • Overall Measure of Program Success: If applicable, you may be given a standardized self-report instrument that contains your specific goals and objectives to measure progress, and to be given the opportunity to share your experience. You also may be given a satisfaction survey at the end of the program ensuring your goals and objectives have been met.
